Brisbane

  • Victoria Park Golf Course +61 7 3252 9891. Herston Road, Herston. Public course right in the center of the city. Par 65. $22 for 18 holes during the week.
  • St Lucia Links +61 7 3403 2556/7, 18 holes for $26. Good food at the 10 Acre Cafe with fantastic views overlooking the course.

Sunshine Coast

Don't be surprised to see kangaroos on some of the courses.

Noosa

  • Noosa Valley Country Club, +61 7 5449 1411,Links Drive Noosa Heads. About 15 minutes from Noosa, 9 holes.
  • Tewantin Noosa Golf Club. +61 7 5447 1910. 18 holes $38. Weekly membership $95, discounts for longer. Beautiful course, and probably the best value in the area. About 10 minutes from Noosa.
  • Kabi Golf Course +61 7 5485 3494, 59 Kabi Road Boreen Point. Organic golf course consisting of 18-par 3 holes and 7 regular holes (you play two holes twice to get 9 in). 27 holes $25. The restaurant is meant to be very good.
  • Noosa Springs. Fantastic high quality championship (but public access) course. Print off a voucher from iseekgolf.com and you get 18 holes, plus electric cart, for $80.

The Melbourne Sandbelt, a region of sandy soils in the city's southeastern suburbs, is notable for its high concentration of significant golf courses.

  • Royal Melbourne Golf Club, +61 3 9599 0500, Cheltenham Road, Black Rock — The country's oldest club, which opened near the city centre in 1891 and moved to its current Sandbelt site in 1931, has two courses. The West Course is universally regarded as the country's top course (and one of the top 5 to 10 in the world), and the East Course regularly makes Australian top-10 rankings. The club has hosted numerous major events in Australian and international golf, most notably the Presidents Cup in 1998, 2011, and 2019. While it is a private club, it has reciprocal agreements with many clubs around the world, and tee times for visitors who are members of a golf club are available on most Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.

Tasmania

South Australia

The Adelaide sandbelt hosts the 4 best golf clubs in the city, along a strip west of the CBD. The clubs have an agreement to enable visitors to play all 4, along with a bottle of local red wine after each round.

  • Royal Adelaide Golf Club, +61 8 8356 5511, Tapleys Hill Road, Seaton — The club was founded in the parklands in 1892 and moved to its current Seaton site in 1906, with an original design credited to Cargie Rymill and Dan Soutar. Famed golf course architect Alistair Mackenzie visited the club in 1926, and had a large influence on the design of many holes on the front 9, including the classic short par 4 third, which features a blind tee shot, followed by a long narrow green protected by a large mound at the front left of the green. The Course is regarded as the states top course (and one of the top 100 in the world, and top 10 in the country). The club has hosted the Australian Open tournament 9 times. A private club, it has reciprocal agreements with many clubs around the world, while tee times for visitors who are members of a golf club are available for $265-350.
  • Kooyonga Golf Club, +61 8 8352 5444, May Terrace, Lockleys — The club was founded in 1923, and was designed by Cargie Rymill. The Course is ranked in the top 30 in the country, and the club has hosted the Australian Open tournament 5 times. While it is a private club, it has reciprocal agreements with many clubs around the world, and tee times for visitors who are members of a golf club are available for $250-295.
  • Glenelg Golf Club, +61 8 8350 3200, James Melrose Road, Novar Gardens — The club was originall designed in 1927 by Cargie Rymill, and redesigned by Vern Morcom in 1947. A remodel was undertaked in the early 2000s by Neil Crafter and Bob Tuohy. The course is ranked number 30 in the country by Golf Australia Magazine. While it is a private club, it has reciprocal agreements with many clubs around the world, and tee times for visitors can be arranged for $220.
  • Grange Golf Club, +61 8 8355 7100, White Sands Drive, Grange — Golf has been played on the site since 1910, when the land was owned by the McCoy family. The facility boasts two courses, both which have undergone redesigns since 2004. The West Course, redesigned by Mike Clayton, is known for its wide fairways and tricky green complexes. The West Course held the Women's Australian Open in 2016 and 2019. The East course was redesigned by Greg Norman in 2011, and features wetlands on some holes. Both courses are ranked in the top 35 by Golf Australia Magazine (28th and 35th respectively). While it is a private club, it has reciprocal agreements with many clubs around the world, and tee times for visitors are available for $200.

Western Australia

Northern Territory

The Alice Springs Golf Club has an 18-hole course. It is rated the 53rd best course in Australia, is in the world's top-10 desert courses and one of Australia's top 25 golf resorts.

It hosts the PGA Seniors tour, as well as the Masters Games and the NT Open.
